American Women Quarters 2023 Ornaments

The program honors a diverse group of remarkable American women who have made significant contributions across various fields, including suffrage, civil rights, abolition, government, humanities, science, space, and the arts. The honorees represent a rich tapestry of ethnic, racial, and geographical backgrounds.

The 2023 honorees include:

• Bessie Coleman: A pioneering pilot and advocate, she was the first African American and first Native American woman pilot, as well as the first African American to earn an international pilot’s license.
• Edith Kanakaʻole: An indigenous Hawaiian composer and kumu hula, she served as a custodian of native culture, traditions, and natural land.
• Eleanor Roosevelt: An influential author, reformer, and civil liberties advocate, she was the Chairperson for the United Nations’ Commission on Human Rights and a politically active first lady.
• Jovita Idar: A Mexican-American journalist and activist, she championed quality education for Mexican-American children and fought for suffrage.
• Maria Tallchief: The first major prima ballerina in America, she broke barriers as a Native American ballerina.

Each ornament beautifully showcases the reverse (tails side) of the honorees’ uncirculated quarters from the Philadelphia Mint. Crafted in solid brass with a rhodium finish, these one-of-a-kind pieces feature intricate elements specific to each honoree. Each ornament comes with a certificate of authenticity, along with details about its design and a brief biography of the honoree.

The dimensions of the ornaments are 2.7 x 3.2 inches, while the box measures 4 5/8 square inches.
