For her work as an Underground Railroad conductor, Harriet Tubman is a well-known figure. She personally returned to the South multiple times after escaping slavery to guide others out and give guidance to more individuals who managed to emancipate themselves. She didn’t stop there, though! As a nurse, Harriet Tubman enlisted in the Union Army in 1862 and performed a variety of duties, such as scouting and spying. During the Civil War, she led the Combahee River Raid, the first-ever female-led armed expedition that rescued over 700 enslaved persons. Ms. Tubman persisted in fighting for causes she supported after the Civil War. She actively advocated for women’s voting rights as a suffragist. She also laboured to care for the elderly and young who had just been let free. The constant pursuit of freedom in every facet of American life was a defining characteristic of Harriet Tubman’s life.

Gold Coin Obverse: The obverse design shows a portrait of Harriet Tubman in the years after the Civil War, with her confident gaze directed towards the future and the distant. “HARRIET TUBMAN,” “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and “2024” are among the inscriptions.

Reverse: The image on the reverse shows two people holding one other’s arms tightly, signifying the support and assistance Harriet Tubman provided to others during her life. The seven basic ideals of Harriet Tubman—“FAITH,” “FREEDOM,” “FAMILY,” “COMMUNITY,” “SELF-DETERMINATION,” “SOCIAL JUSTICE,” and “EQUALITY”—are inscribed around the arms. “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” “$5”, and “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” are among the other inscriptions.

Silver Dollar Obverse: The obverse design features an expression on the viewer’s face that challenges them to grasp the chance for freedom as Harriet Tubman extends her hand to them. “HARRIET TUBMAN,” “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and “2024” are among the inscriptions.

Reverse: A pair of joined hands create a bridge that silhouettes are seen traversing in the reverse design. The North Star, which creates the “O” in the word “OF,” is pointed to by the Big Dipper constellation in the sky. “E Pluribus Unum,” “ONE DOLLAR,” and “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” are among the inscriptions.

Half Dollar Obverse: The design on the obverse features Harriet Tubman, who made history by being the first female commander of an armed raid during the Civil War, the Combahee River Raid, which led to the liberation of over 700 slaves in South Carolina. Two boats from the Civil War era symbolize the raid in the backdrop. “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” “2024,” and “HARRIET TUBMAN” are among the inscriptions.

Reverse: Harriet Tubman is shown clutching a spyglass in front of a line of tents from the Civil War era in the reverse design, signifying her role as a scout and spy for the Union Army during that conflict. Her contributions are noted by inscriptions that read “SPY,” “NURSE,” “CIVIL WAR,” “SCOUT,” and “COMBAHEE RIVER RAID LEADER.” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” “HALF,” and “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” are other inscriptions.
