In December 1921, Treasury Secretary Andrew Mellon approved the design of the Peace Dollar to replace the Morgan Dollar, symbolizing peace between the United States and Germany. Created by renowned Italian American sculptor Anthony de Francisci (1887–1964), the Peace Dollar represents the nation’s emergence as an international power while honoring the sacrifices of its citizens during World War I and celebrating victory and peace. Reintroduced in 2021, this coin features a stunning uncirculated finish.
The obverse showcases Liberty in profile, adorned with a radiant crown. Inscriptions on the obverse include “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and the year of issuance. The reverse depicts an eagle at rest, holding an olive branch above the word “PEACE.” Additional inscriptions include “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” and “ONE DOLLAR.”
Each coin is encapsulated and placed in a stylish clamshell, accompanied by an elegant blue presentation box featuring the official United States Mint seal. The outer sleeve displays an image of the obverse design. This high-quality coin comes with a certificate of authenticity that includes an image of the obverse.
