This set includes all five coins from the 2023 American Women Quarters™ Program, packaged together in a single protective lens to highlight their exceptional proof finish. The American Women Quarters Program is a four-year initiative that celebrates the accomplishments and contributions of women who have shaped our nation’s history, continuing from 2022 through 2025 with five new quarters each year featuring reverse designs honoring notable American women.

The reverse designs honor a diverse group of women who made significant impacts across various fields, including suffrage, civil rights, abolition, government, humanities, science, space, and the arts. These women represent a rich tapestry of ethnic, racial, and geographical backgrounds.

Each coin features a common obverse design depicting a portrait of George Washington, originally sculpted by Laura Gardin Fraser as part of the 1932 quarter celebrating the bicentennial of Washington’s birth. Inscriptions include “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and “2023.”

The reverse designs for 2023 include:

  • Bessie Coleman: The design captures Coleman preparing for flight, reflecting her determination and the freedom she sought in the skies. Inscriptions include “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “QUARTER DOLLAR,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” “BESSIE COLEMAN,” and “6.15.1921,” marking the date she earned her pilot’s license.
  • Edith Kanakaʻole: This portrait features Kanakaʻole’s hair and lei transforming into a Hawaiian landscape, symbolizing her dedication to preserving traditional culture and natural lands. The inscription “E hō mai ka ʻike” translates to “granting the wisdom,” acknowledging the importance of hula and chants in this preservation. Additional inscriptions include “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” “25¢,” and “EDITH KANAKAʻOLE.”
  • Eleanor Roosevelt: Her portrait is accompanied by scales of justice against a globe backdrop, symbolizing her work with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Inscriptions include “UNITED STATES of AMERICA,” “QUARTER DOLLAR,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” “ELEANOR ROOSEVELT,” and “UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS.”
  • Jovita Idar: This design shows Idar with her hands clasped, incorporating inscriptions of her achievements and the newspapers she contributed to. Text includes “MEXICAN AMERICAN RIGHTS,” “TEACHER,” “JOVITA IDAR,” “NURSE,” and various newspaper titles alongside “QUARTER DOLLAR,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” and “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.”
