With the weapons of their respective times, Continental and modern troops are seen in the obverse design (heads) “at the ready.” They stand for the U.S. Army’s history of continuity and its ongoing commitment to national defence. “UNITED STATES ARMY” and “SINCE 1775″ are the inscriptions.
Obverse Designer: Lucas Durham, Artistic Infusion Program Designer
Craig A. Campbell, a United States Mint medallic artist, created the obverse sculpture.
The U.S. Army flag and its streamers are both raised by a breeze in the reverse design (tails), which contrasts the flag with the Army’s seven essential ideals. ABEYANCE 2014 – 2015, TET COUNTEROFFENSIVE 1968, APPOMATTOX 1865, LEXINGTON 1775, and LUZON 1944 – 1945 are among the significant battles whose streamers have text visible. The Army’s basic values—”LOYALTY,” “DUTY,” “RESPECT,” “SELFLESS SERVICE,” “HONOUR,” “INTEGRITY,” and “PERSONAL COURAGE”—are engraved on the insignia.
Emily Damstra, the program designer for artistic infusion, is the reverse designer.
Renata Gordon, a United States Mint medallic artist, is the reverse sculptor.
