Since its inception over 230 years ago, the United States Mint has produced a diverse array of coins featuring liberty personified by various female figures. The 2023 American Liberty Gold Proof Coin offers a fresh perspective, a bold representation of the resilience of American liberty.

The 2023 American Liberty High Relief Gold Coin™ is struck in 24-karat gold.

On the obverse (heads side), the design features a bristlecone pine, a species native to California, Nevada, and Utah, recognized as one of the oldest living organisms on Earth, with lifespans reaching up to 5,000 years. Bristlecone pines thrive in harsh environments and are often the first to repopulate areas after significant changes, such as lava flows or glacial runoff. Inscriptions include “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and “2023.”

The reverse (tails side) design depicts a young bald eagle poised on a rocky outcropping, moments away from taking flight. Inscriptions read “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “1 OZ.,” “.9999 FINE GOLD,” “$100,” and “E PLURIBUS UNUM.”
